Pros & Cons

Here we collect tests, guides and product reviews so that you can create a picture of what others think about the product. This analysis and review is based on my experience and a decade of industry insight.

  • The Slumberland Naturals Premium Wool Mattress offers a brilliant combination of 2550 Dual Layer Pocket springs for superior responsive support, providing comfort and less disturbance to your sleep.
  • The mattress includes Tencel™ super soft-touch, stretch knit cover providing a smooth, soft surface that is also gentle on the skin and provides natural antibacterial allergy protection, enhancing the overall sleep experience.
  • The mattress features luxurious All Seasons Comfort Wool, which is naturally durable and breathable, aiding temperature regulation to help you sleep warmer in Winter and cooler in Summer.
  • This mattress has been praised by users for its excellent reinforced edge support, which aids in reducing roll-off and optimising the sleep surface all the way to the edge of the mattress.
  • The mattress’s environmental credentials are impressive: it uses Organic Cotton, Organic Flax (both GOTS approved) and Bamboo, all sustainably sourced. Its packaging is also made from minimum 50% sugar cane, making it a great choice for eco-conscious users.
  • Some users noted that the mattress is heavier than expected, necessitating assistance when rotating - but this is typically indicative of a quality, dense material construction which is generally more durable.
  • There were occasional comments indicating the firm version may be slightly too firm for side or hourglass-figure sleepers, but this level of solid support can be truly beneficial for back or stomach sleepers.
  • Some users expressed initial surprise about the mattress height being 32.5cm, which is quite substantial - although this can often translate to enhanced comfort and support levels, and the added height can make it easier to get in and out of bed.

Introduction to Slumberland Naturals Premium Wool Mattress

Slumberland Naturals Premium Wool Mattress is a symbol of innovation, sustainability, luxury and relentless attention to detail. The goal is simple – gifting you a sleep experience that revitalises your body and mind. With the integration of innovative materials and a commitment to wellbeing of the planet, the Naturals Premium Wool Mattress from Slumberland introduces a new paradigm in the world of sleep.

How we test

Our evaluation process for the Slumberland Naturals Premium Wool Mattress was a thorough and meticulous one. We carried out an in-store trial that encompassed a variety of factors including comfort, support, temperature regulation, edge support, construction quality, and material sustainability. This in-depth process provided valuable insights, but remember, our test did not extend to a home trial.

Design and features

The Slumberland Naturals Premium Wool Mattress impresses with its intelligent build and selection of supreme comfort materials. With a dual-layer pocket spring configuration (2550 springs to be precise), this mattress is designed to provide personalised support by independently adapting to your body movements. The top layer boasts a Tencel™ super soft-touch, stretch knit cover that ensures skin-friendliness while providing antibacterial protection - a bonus for allergen-conscious sleepers.

The sleep surface is thoughtfully quilted, featuring Truecomfort fillings that not only offer cushioned comfort but also facilitate air circulation. These fillings are sustainably sourced, composed of 75% recycled PET plastic—a nod to the brand’s commitment to the environment. Additionally, the mattress features a blend of GOTS-approved organic cotton and flax, guaranteeing not just luxurious comfort but also temperature regulation and antibacterial properties. Alongside, the All Season Wool Comfort ensures that you stay cosmically comfortable throughout the year, regardless of changing seasons.

Mattress comfort

The thing about comfort is that it is highly subjective. That being said, the Slumberland Naturals Premium Wool Mattress seems to craft an inviting fusion of firm support and plush comfort. The mattress spreads pleasingly to cradle your body while the dynamic reinforced edge support ensures durability and reduces roll-off. The hypoallergenic bamboo included in the mattress composition is a winner as it helps maintain a comfortable micro-climate through temperature regulation.

Suitability

Our analysis suggests that this mattress is ideal for back sleepers and certain stomach sleepers due to its firm tension. For side sleepers, however, it may be less than ideal as they commonly require a supportive layer with more sinkage to comfortably accommodate their hip and shoulder. However, if you are a back sleeper or require orthopaedic relief, opting for the firm version could be beneficial.

What customers thought

Customer reviews provide us with valuable insights into the lived experiences of the mattress. Back and side sleepers have largely praised the Slumberland Naturals Premium Wool Mattress for delivering comfortable and well-supported sleep. Customers have also lauded the robust edge support that maximises the usable surface of the mattress, reducing instances of roll-off. The high price point was seen as a downside by some, however others felt it was justified given its value proposition.

The verdict

To sum up, the Slumberland Naturals Premium Wool Mattress is impressive in its construction, offering stellar comfort with a careful selection of sustainably-sourced materials. While the price point is comparatively high, when factoring in the sustainability, comfort and durability aspects, it presents solid value for discerning sleepers especially those who sleep on their back or need orthopaedic relief. And with an 8-year guarantee and the British Kitemark™ Quality Accreditation, it ticks all the boxes for a sound investment into decadent and restful sleep.

Most comfortable mattress I have ever owned! Wow is all I can say. Purchased it in firm and as it has the soft layers on top, it is not too hard- it's perfect. My back is in heaven, it really supports my back. Thank you for making an amazing mattress. I originally bought the sumberland 6 air in medium but it was too soft and didn't support my back enough. I am so pleased I made the change to this mattress.
