Why our sleep experts loved it
When looking for mattresses, you want to make sure that you get the best one for your needs. After all, you will be spending a lot of time on it. That’s why we decided to review the Orbit 800 Pocket Hybrid Mattress from SleepSoul. This product has been designed to provide superior comfort and support when compared to others at the same price point and it has many features that make it an ideal choice for those looking for a product that will provide an excellent night’s sleep for those who sleep on both their back and side.
First, an introduction, the SleepSoul Orbit 800 Pocket Hybrid Mattress is a fairly luxurious item that is designed to give you the most comfortable sleep experience that punches above its weight class given the modest price. It is made with a combination of pocket springs and gel foam for maximum support and comfort. The pocket springs provide superior support and reduce motion transfer, while the gel foam contours to your body for enhanced comfort. The product also features temperature regulating fabric that responds well with the gel (far better than traditional memory foam) to help keep you cool and comfortable. The SleepSoul Orbit 800 Pocket Hybrid Mattress is available in a range of sizes from single to super king.
Unboxing & First Impressions
This is one of a few in the latest SleepSoul range we have had the pleasure of unboxing ourselves. We were impressed with the quality of the SleepSoul Orbit 800 Pocket Hybrid Mattress when we took it out of the box. Seeing the bed inflate before your eyes was quite impressive, just remember not to use a knife to open the box as we had the misfortune of nicking it slightly which then grew in line with the mattress expanding. The product is beautifully made and the fabric is soft and luxurious to the touch. The mattress is also well-packed and comes with easy to follow instructions for assembly. Once assembled, the mattress is surprisingly light and easy to move around despite the premium pocket springs.
Comfort & Support
The pocket spring and gel foam combo works really well together with both layers being particularly breathable. Both of these layers are personal favourites with the pocket springs contouring well around your body as you sleep and the gel foam being soft and deep enough that the layer rebounds as you move around on the top of the product.
The SleepSoul Orbit 800 Pocket Hybrid Mattress features temperature regulating fabric to help keep you cool and comfortable. The fabric is designed to absorb and dissipate heat away from the body, so you don’t wake up in the middle of the night feeling too hot or too cold. We found that the bed did a great job of regulating temperature and keeping us comfortable throughout the night.
This product also features edge support for added stability thanks to the quality pocket spring base. The edge support helps to keep the mattress from sagging and provides a more supportive surface for sleeping. We found that the edge support was solid and did a reasonably decent job of keeping the product from sagging or sinking in.
Not only does the pocket spring base help with edge support, but also with reduced motion transfer. This means that you won’t be disturbed by your partner’s movements during the night. We’ve seen better motion support from some of the higher spring count options in competing models, but these typically came at a higher price point. The result is a reasonable, albeit not spectacular motion transfer.
Final Thoughts
The SleepSoul Orbit 800 Pocket Hybrid Mattress is a luxurious product designed to provide superior comfort and support for a number of different sleeping positions. It is made with a combination of pocket springs and gel foam for maximum support and comfort which will favour back sleepers thanks to its medium firm tension, although side sleepers shouldn’t find too much trouble with this item. The mattress also features temperature regulating fabric to help keep you cool and comfortable while the layers are hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant, making it ideal for those with allergies. Ultimately, we found the mattress to be comfortable, supportive, and well-made despite its fairly low price point although it is apparent that the pocket springs do not perform quite so well at the 800 designation as they do in 1200 and above.
