Simply By Bensons Divan Base On Castors

We opted for the 'Ottoman' style of bed, and this review pertains only to that. The reason we opted for this style is that the divan drawers required more space than we had in our bedroom, rendering them ineffective. The Ottoman style lifts the mattress platform (and mattress) off the divan base to reveal loads of usable storage. One thing to note is that the manufacturing process clearly does not use pre-drilled holes for the divan bases (there are two to each double bed), The result of this was that our two bases were about 1 inch different. I had not expected this and we had not opted for the bed assembly service. However, this is easy to fix since the lift mechanism incorporates adjustment holes so it simply required a few minutes work with a tape measure and to undo and tighten four flat-head screws; they are now perfectly flush with one another. This is important since the two divan bases and the mattress platform all screw together and without getting them flush, they will not do so. This, however, is a minor consideration and not even worthy of docking a point off (I might have deducted half a mark but cannot), and my wife especially is very happy with this bed.

The mattress is harder than expected Did wonder if I should have chosen a softer one but that would have been 150 extra Although the new mattress is the same thickness as the previous one, the bed is about 5 inches higher than my previous bed, which I find uncomfortable for sitting on for some aspects of dressing. I should have kept the bottom part of my previous bed as it was much better quality. The top of the new mattress is strange as the plastic ridge along the sides is much lower one side than the other! Product defect? All in all I would advise other customers to take care when purchasing. I really need another new double bed so I may choose elsewhere and keep this for guests.

Super happy with the bed base purchased . I was looking for something in the cheaper range and actually ordered this without visiting any of the stores so wasn't to sure if I was actually going to like this when it arrived but the gamble paid off , the colour is lovely and goes really nicely with my neutral room. The bed base is sturdy and I have had no issue with it changing the way my mattress feels which I have had issues with on other bed frames. I purchased the base with no drawers , therefore I did not add the castors to the base and I think this makes it look slightly more expensive than it is.

I knew that I wanted a new double bed and that was it. To my relief I was shown several beds, the different levels of firmness and softness explained and I could lie on some (shoes and all) to experience the difference. Then there was the choice of with or without under bed drawers. I chose to have two - for sheets, pillow cases etc. Next we discussed headboards, did I need one? Did I sit up in bed and read,, drink a morning cup of tea- go no further I needed a headboard..There was a choice of colour and style. I happpily bought bed and headboard. Excellent, informative staff.

This is a lovely comfortable bed and mattress. Eric at Stockport shop was very helpful and made everything easy. I was kept fully informed throughout the process of purchasing and delivery. I had a text message from the driver who told us when they would arrive for delivery and they were on time. The driver Rob and his assistant Dan were fabulous guys. Very efficient very quick and very professional. They took all the packaging away along with the old mattress. I had wanted an ottoman style bed base for a long time and was not disappointed with my Bensons purchase. There is loads of storage room and the base is very well made. I love the fabric covering the base. It seems very good quality and is a nice stylish grey which fits with any decor and means you don't need a valance. Also, I liked the way you could mix and match the bed bases and mattresses. We even got the same mattress and bed base in a small double size. Totally chuffed with my purchase.

I am pleased with my Ottoman divan base. It is roomy and able to accommodate / store quite a bit of stuff. I did have a slight problem with the gas strut's. It became difficult to close it. I contacted customer services who were very helpful and sent me replacement struts But with no instructions of how to change them. initially I had paid extra for the company to assemble the base incase I couldn't. So with no instructions I a little stuck. But I will contact them again to address this.

A good solid base with decent sized drawers. The castors allow it to be moved easily when you want to clean underneath it. I received lots of emails keeping me in touch and advising me how to prepare for delivery. The delivery was quick and more or less on time. Just wonder if we might have had a little help with the unpacking and putting together? I wanted to buy from a reputable company not some fly-by-night which is why I chose you. All in all, we are very happy.

The divan base is perfect for putting bedding in. I have an Ottaman but what with sheets etc I found I did not have enough room for pillow cases and towels. The half draw is superbly designed to fit around a bedside table or cabinet. In this I have used it for putting table cloths in. A very well designed divan base and with castors, what more could you ask for? To save money we fitted it together ourselves.!!

From ordering the bed at the Bensons shop in Hedgend to being deliver at the said date and time was 5 star, god price paid with great service after, the 2 person delivery team were happy, very polite and really considerate of our property, they even took their shoes off, we cannot find any fault from stringing at the shop till the delivery of our bed, thank you, And we definitely recommend Bensons for your next bed.

Very happy with our space saving Ottoman Bed Base, it's early days but the bed has a solid structure on castors, covered in a nice fabric albeit not very thick and the hydraulic mechanism is sturdy. The head of the bed has 2 x access points on each side to secure a head-board and the required fixings x 4. The whole process from purchase in store, despatch to delivery was communicated at every stage.

Was happy with sales and delivery staff - they were excellent and very nice - delivery was great only had to wait a couple of weeks - have one complaint about the base in that one of the drawers has already dropped and is no longer flush with the other one - and what's inside the drawer is very light weight - hopefully I might get an answer as to why it's done this through my review

The Ottoman bed is exactly what i wanted. Unfortunately it has come slightly damaged. The two parts of the base, there is a chip and for the life of me, I cant get the bolt to catch the other side of the lid of the Ottoman so the base lifts like it should do, as one full piece. They have now agreed to send a technician out after trying to VIDEO us trying to put the bolt through!

Had a 2-3 week wait for delivery but knew this when we ordered. Could choose delivery date and was kept updated prior to delivery . Good quality divan . Can't comment too much on comfort as that is down to the mattress. Ordered a new mattress from another company and still waiting for delivery over 4 weeks later !! I would recommend this divan and good service from Bensons.

Hi The bed was for my 20 year old son and he has said that it's very good. He likes that it's higher than his previous bed. My husband and my bed is going to be replaced shortly and we have decided that we'll order the same bed from you. The whole service was great from ordering to deliver and the quality of the product. Front the start to finish I couldn't have been more pleased with the way I was helped by the lady in the store. I was given the advice I wanted and shown the type of bed I was looking for without being overly pushy. The Delivery men were careful polite and assembled my bed very well. l finally got round to buying a new bed. I did lots of research on online before doing a short list and then making a final choice of buying one from Bensons. In my price range Bensons were by far the best place to go. The bed l chosen was from the Paignton range. Great bed. I cannot fault it. I wholeheartedly recommend the bed and the store. Thank you.

I'm so pleased with this bed. After not viewing it in real life I was sceptical, however trusted the reviews from other people and proceeded. The delivery men were very friendly and delivered to my first floor flat. I didnt pay for them to put it together and found this really easy. Also love the beige colour and got the matching headboard.

Bought one of Bensons own beds. Staff very friendly and helpful. The bed is extremely comfortable. After three weeks I noticed one of the buttons in the centre of the bed is protruding and a little uncomfortable if lying on that part of the bed. Have reported it so hopefully it will be repaired. Other than that a very nice bed.

My ottoman divan is brilliant. What a great purchase. Looks very smart, in pale grey fabric, so easy to open, even I can open it, a small pensioner!! Currently storing the contents of some of my kitchen cupboards while kitchen being replaced! Has a wooden base unlike some from other stores which just have a fabric bottom.

I love my new bed base. Looks amazing and the storage is amazing too. Seems to be very well made, it's certainly solid and heavy in comparison to previous ones. Took us a little while to figure out how to put it together and Bensons were really helpful when I phoned with a query. Highly recommend the Stirling branch!

A great buy. I would strongly recommend this product. It is a very sturdy and comfortable bed. The other thing about this bed is its reasonable price it's real value for money. The only thing I don't like is I am still trying to find a comfortable sleeping position but I know it will happen soon.

Brilliant bed, I got the ottoman style, small double for my daughter and the storage is great and easy to access. I, a single mum, put it together on my own without any problems at all. Paying monthly was my only option and as soon as I have paid it off I will be getting myself the same bed!

For the price this is well made, easy to put together and of good quality. There is a slight gap where the two halves join but not on the top where the mattress sits. Drawers move very easily which is good. Delivery was fast and they even carried it up to the top floor of my town house!!

Its a pretty decent bed for price - (expect better finish if it were a more expensive one). In particular I like the 4 drawer storage I opted for, find it so much cleaner and neater than boxes placed under the bed and they just glide out for easy access too. Great!

The bed we have is really comfortable. The zipped together mattress is a good idea so that you can have the firmness or softness each of you prefers. Customer service was good as were the lads who put it together as it was too heavy for us to do. Recommend this company

Helpful service from someone who knew the full range of products and helped us chose the right one: not easy, as my wife is significantly disabled. An enjoyable - and successful - process. In service, my wife is very happy with the bed and is sleeping much better now.

Great concept, plenty of room under bed. My greatest critique is I can't manage to close the bed up as the Power of the arms that are supposed to be helpful are way too strong. It is disappointing as I have to wait until someone visits me to help me close the bed up.

This is nice, but one of the drawer guides on one side of a drawer was slightly lower at the front than it should have been so there was a gap between the top of the drawer and the base. I had to undo the screw and raise it slightly and put it back on.

We have had 3 bed divans from Bensons. We were given attention and advice from the salesman. We haven't been disappointed with any of the beds. The delivery service was excellent. We would continue to use Bensons and would definately recommend them.

I decided to purchase a Divan Base when I went to to buy a new mattress. It was what I needed to replace my old with one big draw and one small one on both sides. It was available in a range of coulours and was well made. Looks great in my bedroom.

I worried that a 'bargain' set of base and mattress would not be of a good enough standard. However, I am very pleased with purchase. Also I cannot recommend highly enough delivery drivers. They were happy to place item where we wanted it.

Very happy with the 4 drawer divan. Light but sturdy. Very easy to slot together the 2 halves. Delivery men were helpful and took it to the room I needed it in and told me where I could find the wheels in the packaging. Overall very pleased.

Really pleased with the divan base the beige colour is so nice it goes perfectly with my decor. The drawers open and close smoothly and it glides effortlessly when you need to move it . Really recommend it everything about it is perfect.

Brilliant ottoman style bed base. I had purchased an igel mattress last year but was still uncomfortable. The bed base has lots of storage and on wheels to easy yo move and and clean. Fabric is nice and looks good in my bedroom

Well, what can I say about a bed base? It's a base to support the mattress I bought and, as such, it seems to be doing a pretty good job. No complaints at all. I didn't buy a base with drawers so I can't pass comment on them.

Amazing bed. We went for the king size which really gives us just those extra few inches of space we need. We also chose the option for 4 drawers for 'under bed' storage. Base was easy to put together and of good quality.

The bed is first class and comfortable and easy to move when required to get to the drawers. The only problem I have is the duvet is not long enough for tucking in at the bottom,however I shall look for one a bit longer.

Not bought a bed in years and was surprised how expensive they have become. This was in my budget and came with a few extras and best of all interest free option. Delivery was good and bed is good quality and comfortable

The Ottoman base is solid and has good size storage. Unfortunately the mechanism is extremely stiff and very difficult to open and you need the strength of 10 to close it ! Hopefully it will loosen up over time.

We ordered two single beds. They do just the job. They only took 3 weeks to get delivered and there was plenty of contact from the delivery people, as well as a tracker, so you can track roughly where they are

Bought this and the matching headboard. Perfect and exact colour match, really easy to put together with help (not a one-person job!) Really pleased. Drawers run smoothly and it looks amazing. Very happy.

Good finish and does the job. Castors were easy to fit, required me to use a couple of tools to tap them in place, they didn't all push fit. It was the castor receptacle at fault, not the castor its self.

Staff were very helpful and spent a lot of time with us deciding on a bed and mattress to suit our needs. Delivery was efficient and timeous. Delivery guys were extremely quick and arrived when expected.

A well made base and with good storage. Too high for my wife's preference and to be fair - it is! Perhaps if we had tried the base and mattress together in the showroom then we would not have chosen it.

Lovely Ottoman Divan Base, as mine is only a 4' (120cm) bed I did wonder if there would be enough storage underneath, but I needn't have worried, everything fitted in with space to spare. Great base.

Strong sturdy base, plenty of storage space inside, very well made, nice height for getting in and out of bed when mattress is on top. No creaking joints and easy to open and close.

We bought these beds for our spare room. Our grandsons have slept in them and pronounced them very comfortable! We bought the ottoman style beds to give extra storage - very useful!

Great. Easy to lift and fantastic to have the extra storage.. Not sure how robust the material covering the outside so we purchased the extra insurance coverage for damage.

Easy to put together and nice and solid. The drawers glide smoothly and there is plenty of room for my spare quilt and all my sheets, quilt cover set, throws and a blanket.

Bed comfortable. Only problem I thought it would come assembled, except for headboard, which it did not and it was a little difficult for us to do, because of health issues.

The bed is very comfortable. One suggestion would be that the workmen installing the bed could have taken more time to clearly explain how the head rest could be adjusted.
