The Silentnight Geltex Ultra 4000 is a luxury mattress with all the bells and whistles. Combining a layer of Silentnight Geltex™ to keep you cool with a triple layer of 3000 Zoned Mirapocket springs, this mattress is perfect for those who need a little more support in their sleep while still being a medium tension. Whether you sleep on your back, side or stomach, this mattress should largely be suitable. It's even hand tufted for that traditional sleep surface. Need to rotate it? Not to worry! This mattress is an easy-to-care-for non-turn mattress with five years warranty.

Not so much a con, rather an observation. I've laid on mattresses with similar dual-support setups in the past and always found the 1000 mini/hybrid springs fairly pointless. The 3000 zoned mirapocket springs do more than enough to offer encouraging and pinpoint bounce back support that I'd argue you could get away without and just call it a Ultra 3000 Boxtop. Alas, the mattress is well reviewed and looks to be a future favourite.

Today we're looking at the new Silentnight Geltex Ultra 4000 Boxtop Mattress which looks to be a unique offering from Bensons for Beds. For those that don't know, Silentnight is one of the largest mattress manufacturers who prove particularly strong in the online segment and looks to be continuing that trend with the new Feltex Ultra range.

Let's break down the layers and see what we're working with.

To start, the support layer. With a combination of 3000 zoned mirapocket springs combined with an additional layer of 1000 mini springs you end up with a combined 4000 springs to help ensure that your body contours sufficiently as you sleep. The medium tension means that these springs will allow a decent amount of "give" to them that will suit both back and side sleepers.

The pocket springs are my favourite mattress support and with good reason, the contouring around your body is better and the longevity too, making pocket springs the ideal premium-buy when it comes to support layers

Onto the comfort layer and we've got another favourite in Geltex. Geltex is Silentnights version of Gel layers for mattresses and it does a great job of proving a breathable, soft and squishy top layer. What makes Gel a better option than other comfort layers is that it can keep you the right temperature as you sleep proving to be not too hot, nor too cold. In this instance the Geltex Ultra 4000 Boxtop Mattress comes with a generous helping of the material to ensure adequate body-hugging comfort that pairs wonderfully with the springs below.

This technology allows you all the support enhancements of a pocket sprung mattress, but with the ability to have the mattress delivered rolled and portable. Reducing logistics and transport costs and thereby reducing costs for both the retailer and the consumer.

Pressure Relief

One of the big complaints when settling into a new mattress is that it does not feel as comfortable as they hoped, where this mattress shines is in the enhanced pressure relief that it offers. Each part of your body exerts different amounts of pressure against the mattress and through the use of springs and foams, these products are able to offer significant pressure relief as a result across the entire body.

Includes turning handles

Oh turning handles are pointless I hear you say. Just try flipping and turning this product without handles. It can be a pain. Remember that mattresses should be both rotated and flipped frequently, not a problem if you are opting for a sinle, but those doubles and kings can get heavy. Handles are very good.

A Medium firmness mattress is the most common build offered due to the range of suitability offered in such a mattress. This type of mattress will be better suited toward averagely weighted people, while lighter people should opt for a medium-light, and heavier people considering a medium-firm.

Tufted

Hand tufting typically makes a mattress feel firmer due to how the stitching from the cover carries through the mattresses layers. It is a great way to keep everything tight and together within the different mattress layers and acts as an increased tension providing better back and neck support.

37cm deep

This mattress has a depth of 37cm which is on the deep end and will likely require deeper than standard sheets to be able to overcome it's larger size. The benefit to a 37cm mattress is that they are typically of higher quality and with more generous amounts of fillings than thinner products.

Handcrafted in the UK

Handcrafted in the UK means that the product is built here, by people being paid a fair and honest wage using certified and safe products of good quality and construction. UK manufacturing is some of th best in the world and all of that is reflected in this product

Single-sided

Single sided means only one side is comfy. Positives are you only need to rotate the mattress occassionaly rather than the more cumbersome rotate and flip. Downside is the lifespan of the product may suffer as a result, only marginal, but worth mentioning.

The NBF is one of the most prestigious awarding federations in the industry, helped slightly by the fact that it is one of the only, however, it is still a great source of comfort knowing that this product holds approval by the team

Fire Resistant

Fire resistant does not mean the product will never catch fire, rather, it will not go up in flames quite so quickly. Resistant to fire in the same way that I am resistant to kisses, sooner or later you end up giving in.

Mirapocket springs

Mirapocket is Silentnights own take on pocket springs, in this instance, mirapocket is better than miracoil in terms of the support structure offered and is the one to consider should your budget allow it.

5 year guarantee

A 5 year guarantee is quite rare in the industry and is a great indicator of the retailer beleiving in their product. Anything go wrong in the next 5 years, no drama, get it replaced.

Hypoallergenic

This product is unlikely to cause any sort of allergic reaction. Ideal if you suffer from any sort of allergy problems
