Why our sleep experts loved it
The Relyon Highbridge Dunlopillo® Mattress is a luxurious, comfortable mattress with a delightful pillow-top.
I got my hands on this one in-store and the first thing I noticed was how plush that pillow-top feels when you press down with your palm, it has that 'hotel bed' first impression without feeling like you're going to sink straight through it.
The mattress has a support layer containing an impressive 2850 pocket springs for ultimate comfort. When it comes to choosing the best layer for your neck and back, this solution is the one for you. Pocket springs generally outperform the likes of open coil traditional springs, same too for reflex foam. For the absolute best in body contouring, you've got it with pocket springs. Lying on my back, I could feel the springs reacting in smaller sections rather than one big bounce, my hips stayed nicely level which is what I always look for. That said, 2850 sounds huge but it doesn't automatically mean it'll suit everyone, if you like a really firm, 'on top' feel you might find the pillow-top and latex soften things more than you'd expect.
Onto the comfort layer and you're getting a breathable layer of Dunlopillo latex on top. This is the material that will separate you and your body from the tensioned springs. I really like latex, it's got many of the same positives of memory foam in the way you can melt into the layer and feel like you are sleeping on a cloud, but with none of the downsides around memory foams stubbornness for heat retention and sweating. When I rolled onto my side, the latex gave me a nice bit of spring-back and it didn't feel like it trapped me in one position, which I love. The flip side is that latex can feel a touch bouncy if you're used to slow-moving memory foam, and lighter side sleepers might still feel a bit of pressure around the shoulder if they need loads of sink-in.
Further to the top layer of Dunlopillo latex we also have a generous helping of luxurious cashmere filling and quality hand tufting.
Finally, the Relyon Highbridge Dunlopillo® Mattress is made in the UK and comes with a 1-year guarantee. For a mattress in this sort of premium bracket, a 1-year guarantee is a bit stingy in my opinion, I've seen longer cover on plenty of rivals. For me personally, it's a really comfy, well-finished mattress if you want that plush top with a supportive core, but I'd be double checking the guarantee and making sure the feel suits your sleeping position before committing.
