Why our sleep experts loved it
I got my hands on the Lucia/Wilson Upholstered Blanket Box recently and it's a great addition to a bedroom if you want proper, deep storage without it looking like a plastic tub shoved in the corner. It comes in dark grey or silver upholstered fabric and both suit a modern room, the silver in particular looks a bit more 'hotel' in person. The best part is that it doesn't need to be assembled, so you can start using it right away, which I love because it turns up ready to go rather than being a Sunday afternoon flat-pack job. It comes with a 1-year guarantee which is fine, but if I'm being picky, I'd like to see longer at this sort of 'premium' positioning.
This blanket box is designed to complement the Lucia or Wilson bed frame, making it both practical and a nice design feature in any bedroom. In the flesh, the upholstery feels smooth and tight rather than baggy, and running my hand across the top I couldn't feel any obvious lumps underneath. The box has a sleek and modern look that will enhance the overall aesthetic of your bedroom and is part of a larger range, all of which share the same characteristics and design.
From the reviews, customers are very pleased with the quality and size of the blanket box with many of them saying that it has masses of room to store blankets and sheets for multiple bedrooms. They also appreciate the fact that it is a perfect colour match with their headboard and that it gives their bedroom a luxurious look.
A lot of people mention the soft-close lid mechanism, which ensures that the lid doesn't slam shut. When I lifted and lowered the lid myself, it felt controlled and didn't 'drop' at the end, so you can shut it one-handed without worrying. That said, the lid is still a decent size, so you do need a bit of clearance behind it, if your bed is tight to the wall it can be a faff. The storage is fairly diverse, too, with customers having multiple different uses, being able to use the space for storing toys, ironing, and even shoes, just bear in mind anything with a strong smell (trainers, I'm looking at you) will sit in there with your bedding.
Most customers seem to be happy with this premium and high quality blanket box. For me personally, it's a solid buy if you want something that matches the Lucia or Wilson bed and you don't want the hassle of building it, but if you're not pairing it with the matching frame, you're paying a bit for the look. I'd also have liked a couple of proper side handles for moving it about, because once it's filled with blankets it gets heavy quickly. The Lucia/Wilson Box works best when paired with the rest of either the Lucia or Wilson range, making for an ideal and attractive piece of furniture.
