Pros & Cons

Here we collect tests, guides and product reviews so that you can create a picture of what others think about the product. This analysis and review is based on my experience and a decade of industry insight.

  • The Emma® NextGen Premium Hybrid Mattress is particularly lauded for its impressive Infinity pocket springs, which not only offers enhanced breathability but also promotes proper spinal alignment for back and side sleepers.
  • Customers appreciate the medium firm tension of this mattress, that provides optimum sleep comfort and support, and is especially beneficial for those of average weight.
  • It features highly breathable and body-cushioning foam layers, including Halo Memory Foam™, helping to mitigate aches and nighttime discomfort, facilitating a resoundingly restful sleep session.
  • Its Emma UltraDry™ cover is a hero feature - being breathable, easy to remove, machine-washable, and super soft, it creates an invigorating and hygienic sleeping environment.
  • The mattress also stands out for its specifically desgined 7 key support zones that target different body parts including head, shoulders, chest, lower back, hips, thighs and feet, to offer tailored support to each area.
  • While the Emma® NextGen Premium Hybrid Mattress provides medium firm tension, it may not be ideal for side sleepers with an hourglass figure, who might require a slightly softer tension for optimum comfort.
  • The mattress's orthopaedic support, although beneficial for most, may not suit individuals who prefer a softer, plush feel.
  • Some customers have mentioned that while the Halo Memory Foam™ provides excellent spinal alignment, it may be too firm for those looking for a memory foam experience with deep sinking comfort.
  • Though hypoallergenic, individuals with specific allergies or sensitivities may want to verify the materials used for personal comfort.
  • Despite having seven targeted support zones, some users may find the zoning doesn't match their specific body shape or size, affecting their overall comfort.

Why our sleep experts loved it

Introducing the Emma® NextGen Premium Hybrid Mattress: A showcase of innovation and cutting-edge technology harnessed to deliver a remarkable sleeping experience. This innovative mattress can transform the way you sleep, and in this detailed review, we'll illustrate why.

How we tested

We conducted a thorough in-store test of the Emma® NextGen Premium Hybrid Mattress to bring you an intimate and comprehensive review. By personally trying out the mattress and assessing various components including design, comfort, and features, we can offer you a thoughtful and accurate review. Keep in mind, we haven't had the opportunity to try this mattress at home over an extended period.

Design and features

A significant highlight of the Emma® NextGen Premium Hybrid Mattress is its innovative combination of Infinity pocket springs and supportive foam layers. These 7-zoned springs are designed to specifically support different parts of the body, ensuring excellent spinal alignment and a healthier sleeping posture. Thanks to these larger springs, maximum air circulation is encouraged, aiding in maintaining optimal sleeping temperature.

A layer of supportive foam, including lower-density foam and Emma's innovative Halo Memory Foam™, provides gentle cushioning that adapts to your body's contours. These highly breathable layers deliver spectacular comfort, helping to support a revitalising sleep by reducing nighttime aches and pains.

The Halo Memory Foam™ technology underscores the sophisticated design of this mattress by correctly aligning the spine, which enhances the mattress's orthopaedic feel.

Finally, adorning the mattress is the award-winning Emma UltraDry™ cover: breathable, moisture-wicking, and easily removable for washing. This impressive cover ensures a clean, hygienic, and plush sleeping environment.

Mattress comfort

Our testing established that the Emma® NextGen Premium Hybrid Mattress's medium firmness would comfortably accommodate both side and back sleepers. Its unique layering provides efficient support and comfort for all sleeping positions for those of average weight. Side sleepers with an hourglass figure might find a softer tension more suitable for sinkage. Yet, for back sleepers, this mattress offers stellar support, making it an excellent all-rounder.

Suitability

This mattress is entirely free of animal products, making it ideal for vegan individuals. The soothing orthopaedic support encourages a healthy sleeping posture, making this mattress an excellent choice for those who suffer from back pain or discomfort during sleep. It features hypoallergenic properties, providing a safe option for allergy sufferers.

What customers thought

A review would be incomplete without considering the opinions of other customers. Unfortunately, we don't have any customer feedback to share with you at this point.

The verdict

The Emma® NextGen Premium Hybrid Mattress—while a competent mattress in its own right—doesn't quite match up to the premium model it replaces. The materials, while still of good quality, are not quite as luxurious. The overall feel is my personal preference leans toward the older version, which felt more premium.

However, it's worth mentioning that this successor offers good value for money, considering that it's cheaper than the previous model. Furthermore, it still includes many of the features that made the older model popular, such as its seven-zoned support and innovative Halo Memory Foam™.

In sum, the Emma® NextGen Premium Hybrid Mattress is indeed valuable. It just doesn't hit the same lofty heights as its predecessor.
